If you started your period at a very young age, will menopause also start early?

Question

I saw someone else ask what the youngest age for starting menopause, and I was wondering if there's a direct correlation of when a woman starts her period to when she starts menopause.

Just thinking out loud, i guess.

I don't know if starting your period at a young age would push
you in to an early menopause. One thing I have heard alot of
is us women usually follow our mothers when it comes to the
female stuff. I started menopause at the same age as my
Mom did> I'm just hoping it doesn't last as long as hers did!!!!
Those Hot Flashes were about to KILL me.

hi Darling, i've got had somewhat some 'era problems' those days, i did no longer initiate mine till i became 15 , and am now 38, and that they are looking into the possibility than i'm going throughout the time of the menopause. i became talking to the Gynae representative, apparently that the alternative is many times real, the quicker you initiate the later you end? And vice versa. the sorrowful element is that even nonetheless my classes have consistently been heavy and from time to time are painful i've got enjoyed having them. So in case you have any concerns then it would be ultimate to flow and talk with the nurse or the scientific expert? good success Darling, C XXX

Absolutely false - Menopause has no bearing on when you started getting your periods. Ask your mother this question and also your grandmother if you want a better idea of when your menopause might start.

Not necessarily. I don't think there's any correlation between menarche and menopause. Anecdotally, I've heard that women who start young go longer, which would really suck if it were true. But I don't have any definitive evidence that that's true.
