I have a cousin who's 14 years old. I really care about him. He's never had a friend. He's naive but very intelligent (like smarter than instructors). He's taking Calculus in freshman year of high school. He's very mature. Unfortunately, he sees everyone inferior to him. I've tried asking him why he doesn't try to make friends but he usually responds with something similar to, "Why should I make friends with such inferior people?" or something of the sort. I can't tell whether he really needs friends or if he really feels that way. What should I do to make his life better?

At 14 his is not mature enough to handle all he needs to cope. Let him be for now. You can be his friend until he matures enough to appreciate his talent. Once he is comfortable in his own skin he will make friends.

well..., I think he's not actually stuck-up but just lonely. lol, excuse me for being an anime freak, but I think his situation is like Kiyo's from Zatch Bell. He just needs some friends I think.
