The correct answer is (1)

Water of crystallisation is part of the crystal structure. A gooh example is copper II sulphate whichis CuSO4.5H20. Note the water of crystallisation. This material is usually presented as a blue crystalline material.

Take this material and heat it. It will give of water which will be seen to condense on the cooler part of the test tube. The residue will be a white powder that will turn blue again when water is added.

The water of crystallisation is necessary to give the copper sulphate crystal its blue colour.
