Yes to control a gun getting in the wrong persons hands which may be hard to do. I wouldn't want guns banned, I have a carry permit where I live and if I fear for my life I will use it, also I live in the mountains and for a cop to here before someone breaks in and tries to hurt me or my family would take close to an hour so I would need to defend myself and family and shoot to kill I can't wait for the cops or wait to see if the person breaking in is going to hurt one of us, shoot now ask questions later.

Gun control laws are only for political purposes, not for public protection. The government may tell you that by passing gun control laws that they are attempting to protect the general public but it is a bold faced lie.
Our Constitution gives us the right to bear arms for a very good reason and fat cat politicians know it. The government wants to restrict gun ownership for one simple reason, An armed American public could possibly overthrow the government if or when they decided the government has taken over to much control of the citizens. Our Ancestors knew this, they knew that we would at some point in time need to defend ourselves against our own government , that is why they gave us all the right to bear arms

gun control only works for law abiding citzens. the criminals won't turn in their guns. besides we have the right to bear arms and the right to arm bears. the government has already taken many types of guns away from law abiding citizens, while criminals shoot whatever they want. Congress won't find it as easy as they think it is if they try to take everyones guns.

To some extent yes, but that is one right we have left to protect ourselves that shouldn't be taken away. Now if they'd only get them away from the bad people I would agree.
