I just got finished buying a used Athlon XP 1800+ (1.533 Ghz) for $200. It had 512MB RAM, a 60 GB hard drive, and a 48x CDRW drive. People sell them fairly cheap on craigslist all of the time. Maybe you could look there and see what the market is like in your area. I am in a large city, so there are a lot for sale.

I would say about $350-450
If you look at the link below this person is selling a smaller hard drive to you and less RAM and is asking $200

It's all dependent on what someone is prepared to pay for it....

Put it on Ebay or something and place a reserve $300-$350 and see what you get, you might be surprised and get more than you bargained for....

Good luck

A 5 year previous question, yet perpetually suitable. in step with somewhat some those different responses; supply up waiting. 9 out of 10 circumstances, there is not any "good" time to bounce into determining to purchase/development a working laptop or laptop. 3 months from once you purchase any element, there'll be a much extra useful element for the comparable cost. it rather is the character of the pastime. The 10th time may be in case you hear of a sparkling technologies coming quickly that would not many times see a bounce very many times; like Floppy/Tape/CD/DVD/Blu-ray, or 480/720p/1080p/1440p, etc. or maybe then, which you need to to attend a year after it first comes out for the bugs to be worked out in later variations. So maybe this is yet another excuse to easily bounce in and get what you could, at recent. yet in step with the OP: it comes right down to how present day you prefer to be at any given time. i'm inexpensive, so I guard my desktops (blow them out, replace aspects, etc.), so as that they are going to final many times extra effective than 10 years. inspite of the undeniable fact that, at 10 years there is a few million-2 generations (maybe extra?) of utility that your unit will no longer help (i.e. my laptop helps as much as DirectX9, and DX12 has now been introduced). So for the final 3 years of it rather is existence, I bear in mind any classes/video games that i'm interested in, and notice how i think approximately them whilst i ultimately build that new beast. So for me, i'm delicate with the somewhat bigger point of "destiny-proofing" that a $3000+ unit grants. And lower back, $3000, plus maybe $500 in alternative areas, over 10 years... nicely, i will funds 350 dollars a year ($6.seventy 3 consistent with paycheck) right into a reductions account, spend a pair months getting to know what each and all the hot technologies is and what's coming down the pipe, and then make an pronounced determination; understanding I surely have the money to accomplish that. yet this is my convenience point. Doing it this type additionally facilitates you time to get to recognize the quirks of your pc, and navigate them extra useful over the long-term. once you're upgrading each and every 3 years, you're spending somewhat some your existence getting to understand what your new aspects can and can't do via trial and mistake.

you should check out the ads in sundays paper. She the price of a new computer with close to the ram and gb that you have.

this is a good time to sell, you could post it at colleges.

go to this site and build a new computer with the same ram and gb's that you have. that way you would know how much a new computer like yours will cost now.

remember computers seem to get cheaper.

this site also has a laptop starting at $499.00
