Ummmmmm...

You should check the treason laws and make sure you won't be incarcerated for that. Do not threaten to do anything that would harm America and help the enemy, for example, don't say, "If I was in the army, I'd steal guns and give them to the enemy!" But, it SHOULD be okay to say "I want the enemy to win and I hate my country," and even give a well-reasoned explanation why. But again, you should be careful that saying it won't get you arrested for treason. Freedom of speech only goes so far.

.... And to all you who are calling him a coward and a traitor:
If he is indeed only trying to use this as an excuse to escape the draft, then yes, he is a spineless, cowardly traitor who is not a man.

However, if he truly does not agree with the purpose of this war, I support him. Maybe part of it is because I don't agree with our military actions. I do not beleive my country is acting as a responsible nation, and I think it is abusing its power, and as a citizen of the world I am against its current military actions. I personally do not support the "enemy's" actions either, but if he has good reason to sympathize with them, that is his right. The fact he is resident of one country or another does not impact the virtue of supporting the nation and ideals you truly beleive in.

Your stupid/Smarta$$ answer would most likely haunt you for a long time. Maybe even someone that heard it wouldn't give you a job.

Some day you may appreciate how lucky you are to have been born into this country. Think of all the illegal aliens that would love to swap places with you.

The US has been very lucky to have only 2 wars fought on it's soil - The revolutionary war & the civil war.

I think that you should be proud of the freedom that we get in this country and that you should be willing to step in the line of fire if necessary in order to allow for the freedom to continue for your family and future generations. If all men are afraid of a draft, then we would never be living in this country as we do today and we may not even have a chance for a future if men are always running. It will keep you safe, but I can gurantee that you will be shunned from this country and people will hate you for running away from being brave enough to fight for our freedom. As a woman, I wouldn't even run from a draft- if I had children and my own family, I may have to reconsider- but right now, I would put my life on the line to know that my neices and nephews will continue to have freedom when they get older.

First off, the draft will never be reinstated. Second, it won't get you out of your enlistment and will get you a "blanket party" after you make the statement (look it up if you don't know what it is). Third, it will go in your records and your chance of ever trying to get a job that requires a Security Clearance is shot to hell. What makes you think you wouldn't be safe? You think 3000+ deaths in Iraq is a lot? We lost 47,359 in Vietnam. We lost 407,300 in WWII and 126,000 in WWI. Our military is becoming a more technical and focused tactical fighting unit. 1 death is too many but 3000 over 2 years is ridiculously low compared to other wars. If you are worried about a draft, then join instead.... then you get to pick the job you want and can pick something out of harms way.

Yes, I am prior military and I served in the Gulf War.... and survived... unharmed.

No. There is no draft at this time and none is anticipated. If I were you and hated this country as much as you say you do, I would pack my bags and head for little rabbit Australia or better yet, move to Bum F*** Iraq. If I hated my country, I sure wouldn't be living here.

Lately the military's really been getting strict with policies of letting people go. And I heard if they DID instate a draft that lines like "I'm the financial supporter of my family" and "I'm the only son in my family" would no longer work. So you gotta come up with a good excuse and NO I don't think saying your against the US would work, I agree with the others when I say you'd probably get put in jail or something.

First of all, there is no draft.
How sad that you would rather lie than do what you can to ensure the future freedoms of belief and life for yourself and your loved ones to come.....
someone served and paid the price for your liberties, are you so selfish that you would not be willing to fulfill your obligation too?
I know it is a scary concept but there must be a stand or will not continue to have America as we have known it!

"american" : Yes; that would get you out of the draft and then, you can sit back, enjoy all the freedom, pleasure, and the rest of the goodies in the Country while some other American gets his as* shot at. Even, better ... if we all get out of the draft, Bin Laden can take the fight to us all on our own soil perhaps killing our loved ones ... we can all bitc* at the government for them to resolve the situation with out a military. Better Muslim than free !!!
