Where do you get your Glasses?

Question

We have vision insurance that will cover getting glasses and exams at Shopko, Sears or Penny's. The other places covered are local but I would like to here peoples opinions as to which of three places I mentioned they liked the best and why. We are searching for a better place to get glasses and exams but one that is covered by our vision plan.

Remember my vision insurance only covers Shopko, Sears or Penny's for name brand places so only tell which of those three places works the best for YOU and WHY.

I get my glasses at Kaiser.

Mom and Dad's insurance covers the same places. They go to Sears because they like them the best. They say the people are nicer (which I'm sure varies with location), the selection is better and that the store is more convenient (again, this will vary with location). I don't have insurance and use Spec's Vision Center.

I have had glasses most of my life and I've gone to lots of places. You can get pretty much the same exam and lenses anywhere, so the only big difference will be the frames themselves.

Go browse around all three and see which place has the best glasses frames at the best prices.

This can largely depend on the intelligence and experience of the individual optometrist themselves. As far as you know, Penny's has managed to hire a fantastic overqualified optician who wanted a job in a quiet town near his family, while Sears has just hired an optometrist who barely scraped by medical school and really isn't competent at all.

try walmart or sams. Sams is really good.
