just add the sides -- that is the definition of a perimeter

2x - 5 + 3x + 1 + 4x +2
= 9x - 2

hope this helps !!!

The perimeter of a triangle equals the sum of all its sides.
The triangle has sides 2x – 5, 3x + 1, and 4x + 2
Therefore, the perimeter equals:
2x - 5 + 3x + 1 + 4x + 2
= 9x - 2 (simplified)

perimeter = sum of all sides, so...

(2x - 5) + (3x + 1) + (4x +2)
= 2x - 5 + 3x +1 + 4x + 2
= 2x + 3x + 4x - 5 + 1 + 2
= (2x + 3x + 4x) + (- 5 + 1 + 2)
= 9x + (-2)
= 9x - 2

9x - 2 is the answer
