I am in band and i love it but a lot of people do not think it is cool? (band at school)

They are jealous because band kids are smarter, more skilled and way cooler than they will ever be. Thats all, but I understand.

It's like a sterotype that's been around for years.I'm not sure exactly why,i guess because most of the prep's or jocks dont play in band so they label you as a dork if you dont fit in that click which is stupid(you realize that after you get out of school).I thank band is actually pretty cool,i didnt when i was in school but now have respect for it.I'm a guitarist and i respect any person that can play a instrument well,it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to master.Most of the time it's the kids in band that actually make something of there life too.Don't worry what people think is cool do what's fun and hang with people that are cool to you.

Actually at the school I go to, some of the popular kids are in band. The people who think band isn't cool are just jealous that they don't have the coordination to walk and talk at the same time, let alone play an instrument while marching.

Band is not cool. Sorry. It requires some thinking. It requires dedication to an art form that is precise, meticulous, and beautiful. People in band are a special lot. They hang together or with the drama/speech and debate students. You don't have to be beautiful, physically fit, or wealthy to be in band. You don't have to be popular or the teacher's pet to be in band. Therefore, band will never be cool. The only cool groups are those groups who are selective, and base admission upon popularity, wealth, and physical beauty.
However, if you manage to get out of high school in one piece, realizing that YES you ARE cool, despite popular opinion, and become a famous musician, perhaps, then.........

different things for different people.. Variety is the spice of life.. It would be a boring boring world if everyone just liked 1 thing and it was all the same... So what you like, someone else doesnt. Thats not bad... Just enjoy your band and try to be the best at what you do...
I personally liked band, and in my school there were so many trying to get in, I didnt.. So I took piano lessons at home instead.. Goodluck!

People that don't think band is cool are either not good at the instrument they play or their opinions are just different. They just might be jealous though depending on how their message comes accross. I play clarinet and lots of other clarinets think band is lame because they aren't as good as me since I'm 1st chair.

I was in the band too..we had lots of fun and put on some great shows. I guess we were looked at as nerds but we didnt care

Sour grapes. Very few people actually have the talent to play a musical instrument. And very few people will admit they have no talent.
Actually band is very cool. By being in band you show you have talent, motivation, involvement, you are cool! These will be traits that will serve you well your entire life.

Cuz they are envious. You worked hard to be in the band and you should be proud. Look at all the cool things being in the band enables you to do.

Don't care what anyone says. I was in band from the time i was in 5th grade till the time i was in 8th grade which is when I got kicked out. I played the drums.

We all have our opinions about things, and who cares what they think. I dont care for band but who cares what I think about it. That is my opinion. I think our band is good and other bands are prolly good also but I think people in band are kind of weird. Only my opinion.
