One Christmas when I was younger...about 4 or so, I went to my granny's house for the holiday. We bought this big beautiful tree from a tree seller. And before we could go in and put down our grocery bags and ask my uncle to untie if from the car, some jerks had stolen it! So I cried and said granny Christmas is tomorrow and we dont have a tree. Why did those guys steal our Christmas? I come from a poor family so no one had any money to go and a buy another tree. So my grandparents found this tree in the alley. It wasnt the best looking tree, but we dusted it off and brought it into the house. We hung some ornamanets on it and by the end of the 3 hours it looked real pretty. Now 20 years later, we look back at pictures smiling, and refer to it as the Charlie Brown tree that saved my Christmas

My favorite Christmas tree brings back a happy memory from a sad time in my life. I was 14, and my parents were raging alcoholics. It was 3 days before Christmas, and they had been on a heavy binge for several weeks. There was no sign of Christmas anywhere in my home, other than a few cards that had arrived in the mail, sitting on the dining room table. I was quite depressed about this, but had not dared to say a word, as my dad was not to be crossed when he had been drinking. My parents had both passed out, and I decided that if they were not going to care about Christmas, I would....somehow.....! I found some large sheets of white paper, and stapled them together untile they reached from the ceiling to the floor, and then taped them to a wall...I think i must have used a whole roll of tape just to make sure it would stay up. I then proceeded to use a razor blade to cut the shape of a tree out. I then painted the whole thing green, except for the trunk which I painted brown. I found the box of orniments in the basement and carefully poked the hangers threw the paper to decorate my tree. I hung the star from the ceiling to top the tree. I went to bed that night both excited about my creativity, but fearful of what the reaction would be in the morning. I was worried that this may be taken as me being sarcastic, which it was not intended, I simply wanted a tree, I wanted Christmas! I awoke the next morning to my Mother cooking breakfast, sober!!!!...She was humming Christmas carols as I walked into the kitchen. I was a bit fearful, wondering if my tree would be in the trash, or in shreds on the floor....as I made my way out to the dining room where I had hung my masterpiece, I found wrapped gifts under my tree. I cried..... My father and mother apologised for not getting a tree or decorations up sooner, and I offered to take it down, so we could get a real tree in its place...and they told me no...because it was the most beautiful Christmas tree they had ever seen. It stayed threw the New Year, and they stayed sober until New Years that year.....which was a gift in itself. My mother would die 6 years later from alcoholism, and my father struggled with it until his death 18 years later. But every Christmas, I think fondly of the special Christmas that almost never happened. Merry Christmas!

I got a "fralsam" one year. Its a hybrid between a balsam and a frasier, so it smells great and keeps its needles longer.
Ok, so heres a little secret. I do this every year, and everyone goes, "WOW that is such a great Idea!!! I have a zillion white lights, and ALSO the colored big and little lights, but I have them on separate switches, so that when the kids go to bed , or I want an elegant look, I just switch the colored lights off and this way everyone is happy. I love the colors too, but its too hard to decide to go one way or the other, so I do BOTH. I have so many decorations that I can't fit them all on the tree, but its stunning every year. I have all the kids ornaments and ones from growing up, and new ones every year.

wooow my best christmas tree was like over 7 feet tall, and our tradition was to decorate it two weeks or less b4 christmas and listen to christmas music all day while decorating it. it was a job decorating that big *** tree!!!lol but it was fun! we used to decorate it a lil differently every year, but we also had special/old ornaments that would go on the tree along with the new ones...but we moved and had to et a smaller tree, and throw out the old one...:-(...but it was great while it lasted......

Last year I was living in Canada (I'm Australian) and we got a real tree that was about 7 ft and decorated it with colour coordinated baubles and candy canes and stuff. It was fantastic - it's probably the only time in my life I'll live anywhere cold enough to have a real tree...
