Does the charging thing and plastic or(any type of material) sleeve come with the ipod in the box?

yes
the charging usb comes in the box
there is also a sleeve but it does not help much
so buy one
i am not sure for ipod nano about the sleeve
i have a ipod video

The Nano comes with the USB Cable, the plastic piece to make it compatible with the older iPod docking station, instruction booklet, ear buds, and the Nano itself.
