no, you have to use iTunes to download ur songs onto ur nano, and ur nano shud have come with it, but u can actually download ur songs from a lot of other places, like Limewire, the internet (artist's sites), and even Myspace.

WinAMP has a plugin that will allow you to use it with the iPod, but for ease of use and convenience it is best to stick with iTunes. (I believe Foobar 2000 also has a plugin available as well).
