I think he is great also. Some of the things he says are designed to rile fans of players and teams up. You have to understand that and not take offense. I do think he knows the game and has a good eye for young players. He says things a lot of us would say after we had a few beers.

The thing about Don Cherry is either you love him or hate him; there is no middle ground. That's why he gets such high ratings.
I am from Toronto and lived in New York for five years. Believe me, you don't want to see Stan Fischler instead!

I love Cherry! He says it how it is, he doesn't care who agrees or disagrees, he is who he is and that's that! And I think that's great it doesn't matter that I disagree with his viewpoint sometimes, the fact of the matter is he is a genuine person and isn't willing to compromise that by pretending to be someone he isn't for anything!

I respect him because he speaks his mind more than anyone on the Television except for the Trailer Park Boys...
But when it comes to anyone not being from Kingston or some
-31 northern city in Canada, he doesn't like them. He didn't like Lemieux cuz he was French. He doesn't like Crosby because he's better than Orr and he can't stand Malkin either. He does make some valid points but sometimes he's irritating and he puts his foot in his mouth alot.

I've always hated Don Cherry i live in his home town and hockey sucks here in today's hockey. and plus if he really was that good then he would of coached many more years then he did he sucks.

I can't stand him. He is knowledgeable about hockey but he is a racist. If you are not from Canada you can't possibly be a good hockey player. I get tired of hearing him cut down the European players. But what goes around comes around-a European is the captain of his beloved Make Beliefs!!!!!!

I agree with the first answer. It's not just Europeans that he's racist against. Even if they're from Canada, if they're French, he would automatically think that they are worthless. Whenever he's on, I switch the channel. It's impossible for me to watch that ape.
