Hey, Tropical, you look like me with sunglasses!!!
This is how you end the visit: You go get their jackets or anything they bought with them and politely show them to the door even if that means taking them by the hand to the door. Open the door and gently push them out the door. Lock the door andturn out the lights.

after suggesting that we are tired, or that we need to get up early in the am or we have plans to go somewhere else, if our current guests (especially those we didn't invite) still don't leave...we ignore them and any conversation they may try to engage us in--we turn off the tv, leave the room, turn off the lights, and talk between the two of us (my hubby and me)---most of the time by the time we turn the lights off in the room they are in they get the hint

I read some where that if you can't seem to get your guests to leave, you offer them coffee, then over the coffee, bring into the conversation while you are making the coffee, what a great night you all have had,and how you can't wait to get to bed,as you are getting a wee tired. That's what I do now, and it works all the time.

impressive question!! many human beings face this delimma each and every 12 months. Ann Landers and Abby both have dealt with this example countless circumstances of their column. My advice is determined the floor guidelines early on. tell your visitors precisely what the approximate end time will be. Announce thirty minutes prior to time it really is time to wrap issues up. For those dullards who purely can no longer study the tea leaves there is one sensible thanks to work out that they don't over stay their welcome the subsequent time. purely announce it really is mattress time and then bypass to mattress. I assure it is going to artwork on even the most insensitive ones.

Do what I have done in the past. To get the point across, just fall asleep watching TV on the couch. They will wake YOU up when they are ready to leave (doesn't take long because it's actually rude). ;)

If they wore jackets or coats, start bringing them out and announce you are really tired and sure pleased they were able to come spend the time with you but now you have to say good night. It's your house, be blunt.

Tell them to carry on with the witty conversation-but I'm going to bed. They ought to get the hint.

Put your pajamas on and walk out to where they are and tell them good night. They surely will get the hint.
