Hi, my school talent show is coming up and I was wondering if any one had any ideas on what I should sing. I am a strong alto but am naturally a soprano. Singing is my LIFE and I've been singing for a while. I would like to sing a song people like but isnt to much like a "pop" song. Oh, and it also has to be approipriate for school...so please give me your suggestions!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!

ok, i'll give you a couple songs that would be good for a talent show.

Black Horse and a Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall
Concrete Angel - Martina McBride
Fidelity - Regina Spektor
You Gotta Be - Des'ree

i can send you any of these songs if you decide to do one of them for the Talent Show.

Well, I think something from a musical would be good. Defying Gravity - Wicked (this is originally a duet, but you could make it into a solo) Popular - Wicked I can hear the bells - Hairspray Cooties - Hairspray I feel pretty - West side story Maria - West side story What i did for love - A chorus line One - A chorus Line On my own - Les Miserables Castle on a cloud - Les Miserables Candle on the water - pete's dragon Big blonde, and beautiful - Hairspray I know where I've been - Hairspray I've just seen a face - Across the universe Blackbird - Across the Universe Or you could sing a disney song When she loved me - Toy story 2 Magic of love - Swan Princess Far longer than fprever - Swan princess (also a duet, which you can change to a solo) etc...... Good luck!

There are so many choices, but an idea is "Come ready and see me" by Richard Hundley. It is an "art song" but is very popular in style. Beautiful, but simple. A love song that is very tasteful. It comes in both a high and low key. A good music store will have it or be able to get it for you.

You might also consider a musical theatre piece like "Somewhere" from West Side Story.

Maybe a Simple Plan song like Welcome to my Life or Untitled.
Untitled is good cuz it teaches a lesson(Don't drink and drive)
