You might as well get use to people letting you down... try to move on and ignore the little stuff... If they had went to another party or something like that... that would be a reason to be mad... they did call and ask to hang out... so don't be angry... just cautious... next party... if they don't show let know... zero invites from then on... and give 'em a big smile...

No, I wouldn't take it too personally. They were protecting their friend and they were protecting you. You may be fine with the ex hanging out, but she may not be so comfortable. They didn't tell you right away because your ex was probably right by the phone when they canceled the plans. Tell the girls you were disappointed you didn't get to spend time with them, and they owe you one.
