Yes, it is turned based. When battling check the right side of your screen and it will tell you which person will go next. By performing a different action or casting a spell etc, you can change the order.

Its turned based, I dont really like the game because it is more of a movie then a game.

The combat, yes. It's completely turn-based.

...as opposed to its sequel, which is real time turn-based.

yes... it has changed in to based... but still, it is not as fun as Final fantasy X-2 cause in Rpg...they had made it as action game.. and that had made the game more fun to play with

Its turn-based, but the story, cutscenes and voice acting are superb. I really liked playing it.

yes it is, personally out of all the FF games I've played it is my favorite battle system(have yet to get the new one)
