I don't even know if it was right to drop ONE. Sure, it stopped the war, but POTENTIAL lives saved is just that... POTENTIAL. The radiation and hell it SURELY caused for the Japanese makes me cringe. I recently went to SF MOMA to see some of their modern art, and one part of the museum was dedicated to showing the horrors suffered from dropping the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bodies of the victims and the radiation effects on them were disgusting... it really made me wonder about Truman's decision.

Because, as part of their agreement with the world after World War 2, Japan does not have a Nuclear Arms program. ALL use of Nuclear Power in Japan is limited to production of electricity, and much of that has been slowed or stopped after the tsunami a couple of years ago. OH YEAH . . . . . Japan ALSO realizes that the bombs dropped on them were a righteous judgment, saving millions of lives on both sides that would have been lost in an extended war, and there is no need to avenge.

At that time I thought it was right to drop the atomic bomb. The Japanese were too smart and ambitious to stop them...which the only way at that time were advanced and deadly weapon which able to stop what they were doing to the citizen that they wanted to benefit from their countries. My great grandparents were killed by Japanese during the World War 2. I heard stories from my grandparents, the hardship they went through during that time. They basically so scared that they went hidding in the jungle and survived by eating the bark of the trees. I heard from my grandma that the girls' hair being chopped off and dressed as a boy. If not, they going to ended up being raped by Japanese. New -borned babies were being thrown into the air and the Japanese used bayonet to just stick out in the air to let the babies slided through thier death. I could as if felt the hardship during the war......
Few years ago, i was in bookshop and I saw a book abt Rape during WW 2. Inside the book, consists of gruesome pic during the Japanese War....I understand and felt why old people of Korean and Chinese so much hate the Japanese.....I dare not buy and read the book, I just scare that I ended up bitter and hatred towards Japanese. I have close friend whom is Japanese and I don't want history affect our friendship.
I treasured the current moment very much that I don't want the past history to affect the new generation. The places that being bombed in Japan, I certainly think that it was right at that time but now with the prolonged side effect from the atomic bomb, I just think the Japanese don't deserved that for more generations to come........But we can't change the history...

YES.
For those who have answered NO to this question would have given a different answer had they had to take the decision back in 1945. It was the only way to end the war and get Japan to surrender. By doing so, a lot of lives were saved specially in countries which did not trigger the war and never asked for it. The USA were tired of the war, remember that they were fighting on two fronts. It is so easy to condemn the US now in the name of political correctness, but one thing you must remember is that, you are able to do it now is only because it happened back in 1945. Unfortunately, like in any war there are casualties. From the deepest depth of my heart I can say I feel very sorry for them, especially the children. I cannot see all the sufferings in the world. I like peace. But it's most unfortunate that at times we have to fight in order to earn the peace.

Those bombs shouldn't even exist. To drop one is the most disgusting decision one can take, so two... No one should ever suffer from atomic bombs.
