when you delete any thing on the hard drive.
the reference to the data is removed and it will be used only when there is no more space to use.
hopefully you should be able to recover it unless the location has been overwritten.

when you delete something frm your computer, you are telling the computer that it s ok to overwrite that data. It is not erased, mearly marked as "availabe to be used" .. The data can be recovered, with some work, under most circumtances. I was unfortunate enough to have to reformat my hard drive, effectivly erasing everything on it. I then needed to recover a number of important documents. There is a program available to do this. it searches your computers drives, and then lists what files are available to be recovered, and their condition. Unfortunatly, I do not recall the name of this program.

There is pretty much no way the average person can permanently delete things from their hard drive without ghost images still being there that, say, a motivated law enforcement agent couldn't find....

absolutely it can be recovered from your hard drive , didn't you know that no matter what you delete it can still be found . nothing is ever really deleted unless you reformat your computer
