If it's electric, check the fuse John. Then the plug in and make sure the switch is working.
It's either the control switch or the element may be burned. You know when you take clothes out and not let it finish the cycle the element is still hot and continues, you should let it go through the cycle and not turn it to off manually, it burns the element.
If it's gas: The thermocouple may be burned. This may be a little harder to change for you. If you mechanically minded then take a stab at it. It's located just in front of the dryer. You may have to take the front off, follow through where you see the tube, the thermo. should be just in front of this, it's a long 1/32 copper wire thing with a tube on the end. Go to Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Lowes and get one the same length. You can get on at Sears too if one is near by. Put it in, in reverse order. Good luck

I'm assuming you mean it 'won't' heat clothes. If your dryer is more than 3 years old, your heat element has probably opened. It's not that big a deal to replace, especially if you hung your manual on the back of the dryer like all kenmores. You may have lucked out and just tripped a circuit breaker to the heater. The motor runs on another circuit.

Make sure that your vent is not blocked or kinked first. Sometimes the vent is blocked and does not allow much air flow and make it seem as though it is not heating. If it is not heating for sure you may have a bad thermal fuse.
Since there are a few different styles of Kenmore dryers a complete and correct model number would be needed for specific directions.

Won't or isnt as dry as it should be? Could be your dryer is very old and needs replacing or could be your air flow vent that leads to outside is plugged up with dust and lint.
