SCHOOLS: All schools around here are actually pretty good. Colorado is near the bottom in education spending, but Denver/Boulder area spends a lot of local money on education. Denver "scores" low on test scores because it has to teach a lot of students who are underprivileged, but it has good and equitable schools.
CRIME: There aren't any super-dangerous parts of Denver, but if you're worried about your kids roaming free, Boulder is notoriously low crime and a very safe place for children.
ATTITUDES: Most people are transplants, but you will find some resentment from natives. I'm a native, but I don't resent people for moving here. Having visited places on the East Coast, I can say with absolute confidence that people here really are a lot more friendly. Not sure why -- maybe it's just that there are fewer people here.
Politically, the attitude in Denver and Boulder proper is liberal-left. The burbs tend to be more soccer-mom-style conservative, and the rural areas are very conservative. A streak of libertarianism runs through most of the voters here, in both the cities and the country.
DATING: Denver has been rated the "best city to be single", so it's pretty good.
WEATHER: Depends on where you're from. Because of the high altitude and low humidity, the weather here can change pretty quickly. It can snow one day and be in the 60s the next.
Because of the altitude, the radiant heat of the sun really warms you up. 60 degrees can be warmer here than other places. Nights are always pretty cold, and even in the summer you should bring a light jacket if you're out late.
OTHER: Denver is an extremely physically fit city. Bike trails abound, skiing/snowboarding is the state religion, and although there are plenty of SUVs here, H2's get flipped off.

The best things about Colorado are a secret.
The worst things are Denver people (mostly transplants), Denver traffic, the population (more people in the Denver metro area than the whole state of Montana), mostly brown in the winter, smog, lately almost every week there has been a hit and run, teens killed in a car accident, another round of murders, etc; the way open land is being built up by developers, the cost of living, ...do you want me to go on?

I've lived here all my life so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I love it!
The weather is great. We have 4 seasons, but they are pretty mild for the most part (not at the extremes) east of the divide.
I love being so close to the mountains and there is so much to do outdoors in the summers and winters.
You can live in Denver or the surrounding subburbs and get pretty much everywhere easily. The best places to live and work I think that is a matter of opinion, there is something for everyone.
Schools, not sure what you are looking for there, as to what level? College? There are a handful of community colleges, DU, CU at Denver......
I think the people here are pretty friendly.
The only thing I don't care for is the traffic.

Denver is an absaloutly beautiful city! your surrounded by mtns & the air is crisp & there are always great concerts in town. the fray is from denver, so the music scene is huge down there...i love that about denver, but there are many cons to living there. The traffic is horrible, lots of homeless crazy people, and the housing prices are outragous. plus, the people that live in denver are tough. im talking lots of tattoos (like bodies COVERED....especially on women. tattoos are huge on women there). One good thing about denver is that there are lots of little communities around it...kind of like suburbs...and usually those schools are VERY good.
