It depends how we look at things. I may not be as young as I once was but I like celebrating the woman I am growing into. There is gratitude that God has given me this life and has blessed me with so many wonderful people. I try not to think of it as youth lost, but rather wisdom gained....I enjoy my birthdays now more than ever before, because now I have gratitude for the life I have.

Good Question.. i have no idea. I have failed to see the point my entire life and I am 33 years old. I don't understand holidays or valentines. There should be no reason why people on this earth can only be nice or give a gift of love on ONLY one day of the year. We should spread the love and the joy everyday. I disagree with holidays and I think we are teaching our children wrong by telling them to only be nice because its Christmas. It should be everyday!!!!

It's just a custom. I have no idea where it began unless because we celebrate Jesus' birth. I have an adopted granddaughter from Tibet. We have no idea when her birthday was and only a vague idea how old she is. It is interesting what is and isn't important in different cultures.

its just to celebrate our birth. To show how much people care that you were born.Even if you have lost a year of your life.
