I just recently finished the sixth book, and I was so sad when Dumbledore died!!! I know it is silly to be upset about a characer in a book, but, come on!! It was DUMBLEDORE!! he was one of my favorite characters!!!!!!! (boo hoo hoo)

Does anyone else feel the same way?

And why do you think J.K. Rowling killed him off???

I am suspicious about Dumbledore’s death. I know we were led to believe Dumbledore died in book. Certain details don’t add up. One, Dumbledore insisting that only Snape could help up in the tower. Why? There were any number of members of the Order of Phoenix. Dumbledore was aware of the security arrangements at Hogwarts and knew at the minimum Tonks would be there. Two, in every book before the 6th book the ending was the main “villain” was different than what we were led to believe. In the 1st book it was Prof. Quirrel rather than Snape. In the 2nd book it was Genie rather than Malfoy. In three it was Scabbers the rat rather than Sirius. Book 4, it was Moody. It Book 5 obscure Kreacher becomes the arch villain as he arranges Sirius’s death. Now we come to book 6 and we are told at the very beginning that Snape makes a pact to kill Dumbledore and actually ends up killing him!!! Three, what was Dumbledore asking of Snape when he pulled out the wand and killed him?. And finally why did Dumbledore immobilize Harry( the only person who could have helped him)? All this leads me to suspect there was more to Dumbledore’s death than a simple murder by a known death eater.

I know, I was sad too, I was sobbing and crying--even more than I did when Sirius died, and he was my favorite character. Dumbledore shouldn't have died, he was so funny and sweet. I love this quote :

Harry : Its going to be alright, sir. We're already there... I
can Apparate us both back...don't worry...
Dumbledore : I am not worried, Harry, I am with you.

It made me cry SOOOOOOOOO bad. DD knew he was going to die that night. I wailed like a little baby!

I think the reason DD died is...He is the horcrux. Kinda out there, but I really do. It is either him or the wand in Ollivander's shop that makes Harry feel magical. :)
I think it would make sense if he was! I mean, that would certainly explain that whole Snape incident that shocked people too, how could he do that and what did DD mean when he was begging? Well, Dumbledore is too good of a man to beg for his life, and i refuse to think that Snape is a bad guy, so DD is a horcrux.

Well, that's what I think anyways!

Because spoiling other peoples fun is how they get their kicks. They need to get a life. Unfortunately (sorry for my spelling) whenever you get people and fans coming together to enjoy something, you will always find people who feel the need to spoil it for thier own pleasure, and there is no better place to do this than over the internet where they can remain annoymous, but still be left with the satisfied feeling that they have ruined someones fun. Happily however I would guess that 95% of these people who are doing this have no idea about the ending of the book but are simply reeling off a list of names and/or page numbers, which as you rightly say, all contradict each other, which means we are still left with a suprise ending!! Enjoy the book, dont look at any newspaper headlines (remember the Sun 2 years ago!!) 7 hours to go!!

As well as what's been mentioned... it all boils down to Harry vs. Voldemort. With Dumbledore around Harry always has someone stronger to fall back on, and he can't be a proper 'hero' in that scenario. DD had to go for it to finally be just those two.

Plus it adds a sense of uncertainty for book 7 - if DD can die, *anyone* can go. It's not necessarily certain that Harry can even win anymore.

I was extremely upset too. But it had to happen. I believe she killed him off so that in the seventh book, Harry can go without any help. In all the other books, Dumbledore helped him, saved him, in his adventures.

Here's a good site, based on two theories; that Dumbledore may not be dead and that Snape may actually be 'good'. www.dumbledoreisnotdead.com

I wasn't overly worried about the death of Professor Dumbledore. I know there is no end of debate about whether he actually IS dead or not ... and I think he is ... but suspect that like Fawkes, his pet phoenix, his phoenix patronus and the phoenix-shaped smoke erupting out of his coffin, he will be something of a phoenix himself and be reborn!

I think the most compelling evidence that his death is not final, is the attitude of JKR herself. She commented that writing the demise of Sirius Black upset her (obviously because he WON'T be coming back), but the death of Dumbledore seemed to hardly bother her at all.

At the end of "Half Blood Prince" I saw no reason to feel pessimistic. I think that Harry, as the hero, needs his protector out of the way so he can tackle Voldemort heroically on hs own ... but I'm sure that Dumbledore hasn't gone for good.

Have you ever visited this site:

http://www.beyondhogwarts.com/harry-pott...

It presents all manner of unearthed clues that suggest that my theory could well be correct. Of course, it could be totally wrong ... but if you're in need of a bit of cheering it might help to visit! Enjoy!

I was sad too, but I knew he had to be sacrificed. I just wished it hadn't been Snape that did it. I want to believe that he is really on the side of good, but still have questions about him.

i felt really sad too. i think j.k. rowling killed him off because she wants to show that harrry can stand on him own, and that when he kills voldemort it will be him, and that dumbledore was not involved. or it could just be that dumbledore is not really dead and is really hidden somewhere...i dunno.
