Security is MUCH MUCH better. After the US secret service saw how relatively easy it was for the Kennedy brothers and MLK to get shot major security changes were made (although that didn't help Reagan). But as we saw today it's still fairly easy to assassinate a politican in the Middle East.

Political killings and assasinations were usually organized by governments to squelch a political movement that threatened the status quo i.e. Martin Luther King, Salvador Allende, etc., etc.. We don't have as many political killings in the US any more because people have personal security and are not as vulnerable as they used to be.

There are certainly political killings and assasinations elsewhere in the world. Look at Lebanon and the assasination of their president for a timely example. If you believe the Hezbollah is behind that, then you ought to look into the politics of the area more closely.

As well, if you follow historically, political killings and assasinations rarely stop the movement they are meant to abolish. Usually much the opposite as the person killed is usually martyred in some fashion.

there arent any politicians that are worth the trouble to spend your life in jail or in a psych ward. Politicians now are not worth the bullet and planning it will take for an assassination to happen. Anyway, killing somebody is not the answer for a problem.

The security really is better but maybe it's also insane people are more into taking out innocents to make their point.

Maybe because the idea of life in prison squashes most assassins enthusiasm. That and the secret service is heavily armed so takes the "easy" target to eliminate away.

Good politicians don't need bodyguards because they are not afraid to be kill....but nowadays many politicians engage bodyguards cause they know they have did many sins and bad moral...so they themselves know that people around them don't like them. Unfortunately many bodyguards were killed just to protect the sin-er politician.

it is mostly because security is so much better, and the politicians are not as brave as before so as to show them selves in public unless there is tight security

Because we have learned that killing someone gives more power to their cause. Just look at gun control, there are some politicians that want to ban all guns, but we gun owners don't kill them because it would just support their lies about guns causing crimes.
