x-2-2-3x=0

group the numbers wih the same variables. transpose -2 and -2 to the other side of the equation and they will become positive.

x-3x=2+2

-2x=4

(note that the answer of x-3x is -2x because you will follow the sign of the bigger number)

divide both side by -2 so that x will remain on the other side.

-2x/-2=4/-2

x= -2

how will you know if the answer is right?

simply replace the x with the obtained value.

-2-2-2-3(-2)=0
