My son was left with a babysitter 2 days ago for about 5 hours. I changed his diaper just before we left (4pm). She did not change him before going to bed and when he woke up the next morning (8am) he was wet, his bed was wet and both of his blankets were wet. Now today when he woke up he developed a rash on his tummy under his diaper. The bumps are dark red and dry to the touch. They dont seem to be bothering him in any way. Could this be diaper rash or something else?

it's a diaper rash, and should be treated immediately with a creme.

Ok let me get this straight...You left the baby with sitter for 5 hrs, and that was 4 pm. And when he awoke in the morning he was soaked? Didnt you change or check him when you came home? Depending on the age of the baby and how much he had to drink before sleep the amount of urine sounds normal. Before you blame anyone for not changing him, take into account the amount he is drinking before going to bed. I have known children that will awake wet if they arent changed in the night. Perhaps you should change him before going to bed yourself. If he was that wet and no where else on the body I would treat it with a diaper cream and it it doesnt clear up take him to the doctor.

Sounds like a diaper rash, or just irritation from the urine. Make sure he's cleaned up and apply some diaper cream, or keep it dry with some powder (although some people dissagree on the use of powder)

It's a diaper rash without a doubt. Poor thing! I hope you do not hire the same babysitter anymore, she end up being irresponsible and you cannot really trust whether she would take care of your baby properly next time. Just a suggestion.

Probably just diaper rash. Keep the area clean -- wash the area well with a mild soap and rinse well with clean water. Treat with an over-the-counter product like "Desitin". If it doesn't clear up in a few days, call your doctor.

Probably. Give him a bath and put desitin on it. Call your doctor if you are really concerned.
