if a zebra has no stripes, but born a zebra, is it still a zebra, or is it a horse?
if a leopard, born a leopard, has no spots, is it still a leopard or is it a lion?
i say that they will be whatever they were born :zebra, not horse, leopard, not lion, but my friend thinks the opposite..well i told her, thats like saying: if sarah had no freckles, she would still be sarah! Well, first of all, it's impossible for a leopard or zebra to loose its spots or stripes after it's born with them! The only way I can think of, is if somebody bleached their fur...which has no effect on what species of animal it is.
Also, if a scientist saw a zebra or leopard with no stripes or spots, and he knew what it was like when it was born, then he would probably keep its name and then test it for diseases to see why it lost its stripes or spots.
If a zebra is born with the DNA of a zebra, the DNA can't change afterwards, so whatever caused it to loose its stripes would not have to do with its DNA and therefore it would not have to do with it's species.
Therefore, if a leapord is born a leopard or a zebra is born a zebra, it stays what it is nomatter if it looses its stripes or spots.

The zebra is still a zebra--it goes deeper than stripes. Same with the leopard.
In fact, there are sometimes black leopards, and albino zebras AND leopards, with no markings.

i agree with you.
i think if a zebra didnt have stripes it would still be a zebra just a little deformed.
i mean if a zebra was born with stripes but had them removed it would still be a zebra

the dna of the creature determines what it is.for example, there are (rare)albino leopards on occasion, and of course, its still a leopard.incedentally.human dna is more closely related to chimp dna than zebra dna is similar to horse dna.no one in a lab could possibly mistake a zebra for a horse, there are many dissimilarities in gene sequence.collect ur 5 !!!!!!

First of all, is a zebra black with white stripes, or white with black stripes? And you are right, appearence doesn't determine who you are, as the saying goes, it's what's on the inside that counts.

a zebra is a zebra - not a horse
a leopard is a leopard, sometimes born without spots, and if pigmented black - is a panther, but still a leopard.

Yep you are right and your friend is a nit-wit.
There are millions of people in the world that are born with something 'abnormal' about their body. Some are blind, have no arms, legs, hearing etc... Does that make them not human?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
