I have often seen a big house spider or cobweb in my bath tub and I use to think that it came up from the outflow pipe but after reading about them I was wrong. It keeps out of the way on the ceiling and then drops into the bath and walks up the plug hole and it's usually a big female that has just mated and gets thirsty and drinks a little water.

Many spiders can get most or all the water they
need from their prey. However, if they are seriously short of water they will drink it. This
includes black widows. However the black widow
can last longer without food or water than many
other kinds of spiders, especially in a closed
container with no holes in the lid. In desert areas,
in particular, one of the quickest ways to kill an
insect or spider is to put holes in the lid of the
container it is in. They dry out too quickly in that
sort of climate. Invertebrate animals like these
need much less oxygen than vertebrates, but, being small, they are much more susceptible to water loss.

Some spider species drink water, particularly the larger species like tarantulas.
In regards to black widows specifically, I've kept black widow spiders for several years and have never given them water. It's not necessary. They get all the moisture they need from their insect prey.
