You seenDeparted? Watch the trilogy in Chinese Version. Called the Inferno Affair. The movie is about 3 years old. Super popular in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.
Also Fearless by Jet Li, the most well orchastrated movie in his life time with an excellent director.

Well...rock is quite good actually... :( Although, the rock scene in China seems to be terrible except for the Beijing punk scene and exceptions like that. Some popular artists in China are Jolin Tsai (never listened to), S.H.E (gross), Fahrenheit (gross), Twins (like) and Jay Chou (like). Here are some: 1. 給我一首歌的時間 by Jay Chou 2. 敗給你 by Show 3. 星光遊樂園 by Twins If you want to learn Chinese, you should be more specific, there are literally tens upon tens of different Chinese languages. I'm guessing you mean Mandarin? :D

Hero is a pretty awesome and beautiful film. It is very poetic. You won't be able to take your eyes off it.
It has Jet Li, Ziyi Zhang, Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, and Donnie Yen. It's worth the rental fee.
