Eventually, your behavior will result in your no longer being able to walk. It's you who don't seem to understand this. You cannot perform the type of work you do anymore. Now, you could either quit now and find another job that you CAN do. Or you can ignore your doctor, collapse sometime over the next few weeks, spend time in the hospital followed by weeks on crutches and maybe walk with a limp for the rest of your life.
Sheesh.

The achilles tendon is either the largest and strongest tendon in the body or the second (the second may be the tendon from the quadriceps muscle that crosses the knee joint.) In either case this tendon will not likely rupture but it can become extremely inflamed and, of course, painful. Other than some rest, ice and heat applied locally will reduce any swelling plus is anti-inflammatory. NSAID's such as Motrin or Advil taken taken for two to three weeks will also provide relief as they are analgesics and anti-inflammatories but take them following meals to prevent gastric upset. Make certain you wear a shoe with an elevated heel to take the stress off of the Achilles tendon until symptoms improve. Walking around without shoes in your home is not advised. One or two local cortisone injections is helpful as well. I hope this advice is helpful.

The doc can't do a whole lot for you. It'll take time to heal and until then you have to go easy on it or you'll just keep undoing the healing and possibly making it even worse.
I can appreciate that you can't simply stop working though. I'm not about to go dispensing medical advice. All I can do is tell you what *I* would do in your situation.
1. Talk to your boss and your co-workers to try to get work that is less strenuous on your tendon.
2. Wear stiff boots to try to restrict movement in that foot.
3. Elevate your foot whenever possible.
4. Drink plenty of water. It's a prerequisite for good health and may help with the inflammation.
5. Get adequate sleep (7-8 hours). That's when your body does most of its healing.
6. Use an ankle wrap. The stiffness can help restrict movement and the compression may help reduce swelling. I would invest in a magnetic brace with 100% magnetic coverage. I can recommend one if you e-mail me. When not using the brace, I would use a magnetic wave device to bathe the area. Hospitals use a similar device for stubborn bone fractures and other research suggests it has a MULTITUDE of other uses when it comes to accelerating recuperation.
7. Eat well and get lots of antioxidants in your diet. That means lots of deeply-coloured vegetables and fruits. Antioxidants can help fight off the inflammation that causes the swelling and pain and hinders healing.
These are the things that I have learned to do and have applied successfully in my own life.
If you have any specific questions, anyone on Yahoo Answers is welcome to e-mail me.
Keep Well,

Listen to all the guys above. You have a health problem that leaves you no choice but to treat it at once. About the work, they cannot fire you if you have a contract with them, the injury may be caused by the type of job you are doing, so, if they do they are risking being sued by you. I don't know the law in your state, they should give you sick leave (paid or unpaid is up to the law) but if you work job by job, I have to say sorry, that's life. Kill/cure the pain first!

http://www.arthroscopy.com/sp09009.htm I am sorry for your pain. Is there anything else you can do as far as work? I know what it is having to work and having no choice in the matter so I really feel for you but if you don't change jobs this may permanently disable you. See if you can go on temporary disability, unemployment or maybe rely on your family or close friend until you can find something else.

TAKE IT eASY ,MAN!!! maybe you could do some streching every morning when you get up to ease up on the pain . but this will take some time to heal . don't you have a sicknote from the doc? if you go in then they can say you could have worked the last couple of days too . you probably should have stayed home !

Nope, Wendy and I have a thing. I'm sure you think you're being original all the time, since you start with a new account each day.

Your barking up the wrong tree friend did this happen at work? and they don't know? That injury takes quite a while to heal.
Go back to the doc and tell him what you do for a living. Ask for diability to heal.

It sounds like you are lazy and trying to get out of work, perhaps get on disability or something. I see a lot of people like that.
