I went there on a business trip about 10 years ago.

I thought it was a little hot and humid, but not as much as say, Florida or Hawaii.

They are very much into family and expect a much more laid back attitude and a slower pace than the states.

The food was AWESOME, but I have always liked Mexican food. You'll still find several restaurants you recognize too. There's a domino's pizza, for instance, but they bring hot sauce with it!!!!

Spanish is the language of course, but a lot of people speak fluent English as well. Unlike many countries, they will be quite flattered if you try to speak even a little Spanish. Just knowing numbers and some simple phrases can go a long way.

I would guess much or most of the country to be Catholic. They are much more religious than here in the states.

The traffic there is BAD....so much so that vehicles cannot drive one day a week based on the last number of the license plate. The bright spot is that taxis are cheap and plentiful. Always find a "full size" Taxi though, I heard there have been a lot of incidents with foreigners in the VW "Beatle" taxis.

The population is HUGE and smog is a BIG problem.

I hope I'm not giving you the wrong idea though....most of the people there are the nicest people you'll ever meet, and there is TONS to see and do, especially if you are into archeology and art. Have fun!

Hi there.

Depending on where you go and who you're staying with... I found Mexico City to be a BUZZ. There are so many people and full of activity. It was thrilling.

Spanish speaking, a bit humid, very upscale (in some areas), you get take a taxi anywhere. I've gone there for work and pleasure. A BLAST!

Keep an eye on your valuables, I mean, be smart about it. Go with an open mind. You'll have a great time.

It is smoggy.
