I'm an assistant principal, and I am part of the hiring process all of the time. I want someone who is able to set high expectations for their students. Someone who has strong classroom management skills. Someone who is ready to contribute to a team. Someone who recognizes and apprecates the diversity of their students. Someone who understands the importance of standardize testing. I get "feelings" about who i good and who isn't, and usually I am right.
