The classic movies in regards to poverty are The Grapes of Wrath & Of Mice and Men. However, I'm not sure if there has ever been a film done with a plot such as international poverty. Unless, you want to consider films from the Sci-Fi genre following the ideas of world wide post-apocolyptic tragedies. Just a thought.....Good Luck.

"Cinderella Man" was set in the Great Depression, and shows a great deal of poverty.
