I have been on my job for over two years without going on vacation as I have had to save my time for school (detailed below). I have not taken more than a day off at a time and only due to my car or a sick child. I had a good relationship with my last manager and felt comfortable asking her anything. I am a part-time student and have to do 64 directed practice hours for my degree program this spring. I have to do it when I am scheduled and it will be my last semester. It may be in a "two days here, two days there" fashion. This time will be taken as vacation on my part. I also have the opportunity to go on a week-long cruise in January. I do/will have the vacation hours/time to do both. Last month, a new manager came aboard and I feel intimidated to ask for the time to do both situations. We are on "production" and we found out that he is a "micromanager." Both events may or may not happen in rapid succession.

I can't change jobs yet. I can't start a new job and ask for 64 hours off before the end of March as they will be without pay.

It sounds like you are due a vacation. Submit your request to your manager in writing. This way your manager does not feel pressured to answer you while you are standing there. In your request, make certain to list the positive things you have done for the company and also indicate that you are due the vacation time

Be honest, its the best policy and it cant steer you wrong, if you explain it to the new manager like you did here it shouldnt be too probllematic, if there is a problem then its time to move jobs, but I think the new manager will look into how long you have been there and time taken off, when you have the first avaible oppertunity present yourself with concern for your company explain that you dont want to cause any scheduling problems and you want to do the best you can given the time off you need. If you belive in God, pray, the Holy Spirit leads you for the right time, and pray for Gods favor apon yourself that way when you plead you case, there will be more understnading.
God Bless
