Yes, is just luck. But they are design to miss and lose, that's part of the profit strategy.

Ah yes the thrill of winning cheap trinkets. I have won an item. A stuffed toy that I gave away. I think the trick is to watch if others actually win. I think some games are rigged so no one wins. The other way is to stack your odds. At Knotts for example, it it's a sit down game like a water spray game get all the seats taken by you and your friends and family. You will be gauranteed a win. I hope you were exaggerating by saying you spent 1000 dollars on a 1 dollar item.

All of the games are rigged to make you lose. I've never won before. You might as well go to Target or Wal-Mart to buy a keychain. You're wasting your money playing those games.

NO, I don't play them; BUT I used to run them.
IF they are set up "legitimate", then you CAN win. The odds are about 300 to 1 against you in most games, this is how they make their profit.
MOST games can be "rigged" so you can't win, but this is seldom the case in amusement parks, since they depend on repeat business.
It sounds to me as though you lost your temper, and got mad. When this happens any "skill" you may have goes "out the window," and your chance of winning disappears. (You try TOO hard!)
I have seen people who simply would NOT follow the directions given, and therefore couldn't win at all, even when you wanted them to!! (Winners bring in more players!!)
You did not say what game was involved, but I have run MOST of them at one time or another.

I've won the bowling ball one a few times. To win that one you have to get the ball to stop right at the top of the first hump. Then it rolls in and stays there.

Yes, giant stuffed animals as a matter of fact. Especially at a place called Jillian's, it cost me 400 tickets! Oh well, it was worth it.
