No rippin' Justin Morneau here...he definitely had an MVP season and it's about time the sports writers used their head for once and made the logical choice!!

Being a Yankee fan, I have yet to rip on him nor will I.
He won, plain and simple. His numbers were good, and he helped to punctuate the Twins great season. Congrats to Morneau.
I truly thought Jeter would win, but yes, I probably am biased, I have followed Jeter from day 1 in New York.
I will only say one thing that is negative... although I have the greatest respect for David Ortiz and his ability to hit I am glad that he did not win the MVP. In fact I would have been outraged. A DH, this is only my opinion, does not deserve a MVP award, I would say the same thing if Jason Giambi was considered... I believe that only a player that plays on both sides sides of the field deserves that honor.

He had a typical 100+ RBI season, but like Howard, this was his first and I do agree that he wasn't the best on his team (it could have been Mauer, Santana, Torri Hunter, or even Liriano). He doesn't walk much and relies so much on power and has a great supporting cast, which lead to much of the RBI and HR opportunities (much to the fact that half of his game is played on "Death Valley" for batters). He still young and has a great future ahead of him, but there has been better choices this year, but it still a good debate to talk about, one that will never end. Of course, this motivates other who didn't win the MVP this year to be better, so we'll see.

because we all expected Jeter to get it.
and yes, because he plays for the Twins, a team that will never really get the respect it deserves for the 2006 season.
And he does have a French last name while Jeter is seen as an all American player, not that that should matter, but it does, oddly.

There is no need for anyone to rip him. He had a breakout season and helped carry the team to the playoffs. He is definitely a great young player that has arrived.

cuz they are idiots
yankees fans thought 200% chance that jeter would win MVP
i think david ortiz, who had the best numbers there should I won it.
But Justin Morneau not the less still deserves it, no1 should be able to strip an MVP from sum1 who earns it...
ithink ppl should lay off,

I agree totally with Chang. Arrogance-pure and simple.
If Jeter had won it, how many Morneau fans would be crying foul?
Answer- little or none.

MORNEAU DESERVED THE MVP AWARD.
JETER: YOU CAN ARGUE THAT THE YANKEES COULD HAVE MADE PLAYOFFS WITHOUT HIM
ORTIZ: WITHOUT HIM RED SOX STILL FINISH IN THIRD
MORNEAU: WITHOUT HIM TWINS ARE FOR SURE NO BETTER THAN A THIRD PLACE TEAM.

because he did not deserve it. A lot of people have never even heard of this guy, and if they did they might not know he plays 1st base. he had a good year, but not a MVP year. i dont know who deseved it, but I don't think it was him
