I do sympathize & empathize with him, though. We've all been pushed beyond
our breaking points. What to do then?

I did not see the "Michael Richards flip-out", however I heard about it. I have to disagree that "they are just words", I believe that for that type of reaction to take place, there has to be deep rooted feelings. "out of the heart the mouth speaks". Of course I loved Micheal Richards on Seinfeld and hate to think of him as doing such a horrible thing. This is where we need to differentiate between the character and the celebrity. Of course I feel that this society does place way too much emphasis on celebrity, this is one good reason not to be so taken with them.

I've been heckled at by bystanders in a hell of a lot worse situation (law enforcement does that to you). And I, along with a ton of other stressed out officers trying to handle a violent situation, didn't turn around and start saying crap like that to anyone, ever.

There is NO EXCUSE for the words that came out of his mouth. None.

And to the previous post, "just words" doesn't dismiss what he said, it showed what was in his heart, and he deserves all the criticism he's getting right now. Along with the inevitable civil suit those guys will file for a ton of money he'll settle out of court very quickly, if he's smart at all.

No. If I was a professional comedian I hope I would have enough creativity to come up with witty responses to hecklers. If I couldn't I would ignore it and try to finish my act. I certainly wouldn't go into some maniacal tirade and make a fool out of myself.

Who knows for sure. I have lost it before and said some pretty nasty things. But were just words. Lets all remember this about Michael Richards. They were just words.

IT IS HARD TO SAY WHAT I WOULD DO...I GUESS IT WOULD DEPEND ON WHAT WAS BEING SAID AND HOW IT WAS BEING SAID AND WHAT KIND OF DAY I WAS HAVING> AFTER ALL EVEN THE KINDEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD HAVE A BAD DAY OCCASSIONALLY AND LOSE THEIR TEMPER, ALTHOUGH NOT EVERYONE MAKES THE NEWS UNLESS THEY ARE A CELEB.
