I'm doing a study on truck drivers. Do you carry around empty containers as well sometimes? If so, how many percent of the time is the container empty? How often is it not filled up all the way?

I'm not a truck driver, but, I rode with a truck drive for a while. It may depend on what company a driver works for, but, here's what I know. I hope it helps. FOR HIS COMPANY: 75% of the time the truck was completely full. 27% of the time the truck was only 3/4 of the way full. Around 3% of the time the truck would be empty or a dead haul as they called it. Trucking company's do not like for a truck to come back empty. They do not make any money when a truck is empty. They would make you sit somewhere for 2,3, sometimes 4 days verses come back with an empty truck!
