Viruses fullfill most life processes - the one they don't fullfill is reproduction since they can only replicate themselves in a host cell. There are also problems saying that they "grow"

Really depends on the definition of life. In my opinion, viruses are life forms that require the host to live. Not too unlike an unwanted house guest or a broke brother in law.
