Life processes are
movement
sensitivity to movement and light etc
growth
excretion and digestion
reproduction
Viruses fullfill most life processes - the one they don't fullfill is reproduction since they can only replicate themselves in a host cell. There are also problems saying that they "grow"
There is a lot of debate on this topic but my vote is no.

Really depends on the definition of life. In my opinion, viruses are life forms that require the host to live. Not too unlike an unwanted house guest or a broke brother in law.

Viruses are about the the most primitive of all life forms. I case somebody is wondering if evolution can be proven, just look at how viruses adapt to their host environment in very short order.

They are usually a single strand of DNA or RNA that can not accomplish any thing by itself.
It must find a compatible host and enter a cell, It then usurps the cell mechanism to begin its viral replication.

Yes the Viruses is alive and by growing is how it makes things sick and die- both plant and animal. It is the small es life form we know of to date and the most primitive.

Yes, they are living things - also, I read they were once actually more complex organisms that evolved into simpler organisms.
