I've been waiting for Christmas to get an Xbox360 Pro Bundle and it is said it is able to play original Xbox games. Does this mean I can play Halo and Halo 2 without downloading a patch?

Yes It Is True With Any Xbox Bundle Whether It's $300 or $400 as long as you have a hard drive on it, you can play all the old xbox games on it without needing a patch from xbox live

No. You can use the backwards compatibilty feature by installing the Update Software that can be downloaded in http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardscompatibilityredirect.htm . You download the file (default.xex) and then you burn it into a CD. You insert the CD in your XBOX360 and it updates automatically. NOT ALL GAMES ARE AVAILABLE but they WILL be soon. For a list of all available titles FOR NOW go to http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm .

The last update was in August 2006 and the new one with 50 new XBOX Original titles will be really soon.

Hope this helped!
PS: You need a Hard Drive to update your XBOX360, the Pro Bundle DOES come with one. (It's US $100 [the Hard Drive])
