Yes if you have a CD burner, you can burn any type of file you want onto a blank CD, using a whole CD for just one or a few documents is kind of wasteful, but then again, blank Cd's are pretty cheap these days.

If you have USB ports on your laptop you could also copy them onto a USB thumb drive.

Or external usb floppy drives aren't very much to buy, 20 to 40 bucks or so.
