Because it's an American tradition. It started with the pilgrims and Indians first dinner together. They served turkey, duck, lobster, and other dishes that were available during that time, but I believe that turkey was the main course of their meal. As for America eating KFC, well I rather eat homemade dinner with my family. I know my family's food is better.

I have the answer for you. I have been breading my own hybrid turkeys in the event something like this should happen. In February of this year one of my turkeys gave birth to the first "Terminator' turkey. This bird is a one-bird army with an attitude. Fearlessly fighting to bring peace to a town and be the only bird left standing (or on the dinning room table). I had made arrangements to have the bird shipped to your town, but it flew out the window. As it faded into the clouds I heard it gobble 'I'll be back!' I sure hope he means by Thanksgiving, because that was the family dinner that flew away... Anyway, you should soon see the arrival of this freedom fighting bird and be rid of your nuisance turkeys. Good luck... and God's speed.

I think cause the Turkeys were plentiful at the Pilgrims first dinner celebration. Turkey was probably over populated and first wildlife shot for dinner.
I think some people go out to eat on Thanksgiving. Maybe night before go out to KFC bring home for next days meal.

Turkeys are much bigger than chickens and can feed more people for one meal. That is why the Native Americans and settlers chose it for such a large get together, and why it has become the traditional meal for the Holiday.

Because turkey puts you to sleep after eating it. And with that many relatives in the house it's nice
when a few of them just go sit down in front of the TV and take a nap. :-}

I would think because it is something we dont eat everyday so it makes it different and also there is enough to go around for next to no cost. Turkey is good and easy to make. Could you imagine not having it!!! LOL

It was eaten by the Pilgrims so it is traditional. It is tasty, cheap, and serves a lot of people.
