Can some1 explain to me what "cooties" r ?

Im an aussie and for yrs I have heard this expression in movies and tv shows but i am still no wiser to what they actually are. Thx

cooties is a term that little kids use.

its because when they find out about germs than they think everyone else has there own nasty germs.

ex:
if a kid drinks out of a cup and he asks his friend if he wants some. the friend will say "ewww your cooties(germs) are on that cup"

little kids feel stronger about the opposite sex cooties.

ex:
little boys think its gross when older men kiss women because he isnt just getting any cooties, hes getting girl cooties.

thats why little boys and girls think its gross to touch each other and stuff.

but eventually they learn that cooties arent real.

They are the Imaginary germs carried by little girls or little boys. Boys say the girls have cooties and vice versa. This usually wears off about the time they actually start to like the opposite sex in some way. Happy to help!

When I was a kid, kids taunted each other by saying that the other kid had "cooties". I don't think cooties actually exist, it's just a way of cruel teasing, saying that someone has something nasty (like lice, crabs, etc) that is transferable, which is why other children would run away from them and mock them.

it really all depends, for some it can mean lice or bugs on someone or when you are little you dont want to touch the opposite sex because "they have cooties" aka germs.. its dumb i know
