In California, a full time tenured professor is probably around $75,000 to $100,000. But that's not the first couple of years.

I would expect probably $40-60 a classroom hour, or perhaps $1500 - $2500 per class. Hopefully, you can gather up 4-5 classes at a time, and earn maybe $40,000 a year. But often that means traveling (I know an English instructor that lives 45 miles from his school, and is finishing his PhD about 30 miles away).

Art history is less in demand than Math or Computers, so the opportunity is less. I would recommend getting secondary work (if your sales skills are good, you might make two or three times the money in a high-end gallery!) to help pay the bills in the meantime.

It varies a lot by location, but figure $30 - $50,000, plus benefits. Most community college faculty are NOT full professors. The majority have master's degrees rather than doctorates and have titles of instructor or assistant professor. Also many community colleges have very large adjunct staffs--that is many of their professors are part-time and therefore don't get benefits.

It really depends on which college, how many classes you would be teaching and at what level you enter the faculty (associate professor, full professor, etc.)

The pay depends on the school.
