It was Iraq and Syria, not Iran.
Since the relations were strained between Saddam's Iraq and Syria, I think that it only surprises fools that there would be overtures of reconciliation between Syria and the new government.

If you would listen we have been saying that this is a major war and Iraq and Afghanistan are just the surface.The whole region is a powder keg and the fuse was lit a long time ago.
