ok i know this is sth i have to come up with myself..but i just wanted t know what you all think. My husband of 9 months is buying me a 1 carat diamond past present future ring that i really liked for xmas. when i ask him what he wants for xmas he says it doesnt matter..i guess i should get him sth of the value of the ring? ( tho it is very expensive and i dont think i can afford a gift that pricey ) so i am not sure what to get..we are young (25) and he ikes to paly xbox once in a while and i kno he always wantedxbox 360...tho i think it is still abit too much for my price range...should i go ahead and buy it? or is it ok if i get him something small and cheaper that i can easily afford? i love him so much and i wish i could get him the world.

Get what you can afford. It's a better gift for him to know he can trust you to be reasonable and smart when it comes to the family finances. You can get yourself a copy of "The Proper Care & Feeding of Husbands" and know how treat him like gold for the rest of your life- that gift is priceless.

Don't put yourself in debt for a Christmas present. A thoughtful gift of something that you know he would appreciate and use would be most appropriate. The cost of such a gift shouldn't make any difference. You give the impression that your money is separate from your husband's.... and that he can afford such a gift and you can't afford to match the value. I find this a strange concept being that the bills and expenses of a married couple are a joint responsibility, and sometimes you both must control the extravagant spending in order to ensure that money for necessities ( like food, rent, mortgage, car payments, etc. ) is available before you worry about what toys to buy. Many times what you want and what you can afford are two greatly different things. By all means....,. buy gifts for each other, but stay within your budget. I think opening a bunch of smaller, thoughtful presents would be a lot more fun than having just one monster gift to open.

Don't get your self into a situation where you are spending more than you can afford. Don't feel pressured to give something of the same value as he does. Can he truely afford to gice you this ring? You may not want to hear this but if you as a couple are spending more than you can afford for christmas maybe you should tone things down some.

can't put a price on love, so don't concern your self with matching dollars on the gift you are getting, the gift does not have to be expensive. it means that the gift must fit the person and come from the heart.

Then buy him something that's not that expensive. You don't need to match his gift.
