I notice in discussion on different websites of various subjects regarding racism or the government there is much hatred towards whites and the government. I understand this country has an ugly past regarding slavery but why do a vast majority continue to harp on the past and each present situaton no matter how small as well as claiming victimization by white people or the government itself? Why not claim responsiblity for your own actions and instead of constantly making excuses of oppression and conspiracy? This type of collective thinking discourages integration and ambition to succeed in life. It's not like they have less rights than anyone else of another race. What gives? I believe they are their own worst enemy.

First of all, it is irrelevant to say I would understand if my people were enslaved. I am Chinese and we were once forced to do the railroads. That doesn't mean I understand the oppression because I'm Chinese.

It's also silly to say that blacks are living the consequences today as a result of slavery.

Also, I know the people answering are black because they have complete myspace profiles with several photos.

Finally, I would like to reiterate I said "vast majority" and not all for you people that have nothing better to grasp onto.

For those of you that think generalizations are ignorant, you're simply unwilling to face the truth. Many stereotypes carry truth to a degree. Where would our comedians get their material?

This is my take on Blacks being so angry. I'm a black female, in college and I try not worry about racism. However, there are still racist people out there. Black people are angry because it is a defense mechanism. Just as some black people are loud, all it is just a defense mechanism. Some black people live by the "white man" is holding me down blah blah blah because they afraid to try and make things better because the fear of failure. Not just that, some blacks grow up in the environment where the "ghetto mentality" is the only way to live. In those kinds of families, that's all they have. That's what they are taught. And unless some black families stop teaching their children that "the white man" is hold them down, or "this is the only life for me" talk then they will never try to be anything other than that. I was fortunate enough to have two loving parents that ensiled in me the importance of Education. Some black familles don't have that. Just as some white familles don't have that. And as far as racist white people, they are that way because "their" parents taught them to think like that.
For any race, we need to start teaching our kids not to hate. Not to look at a persons color but by their mind. I unfortunately have two strikes against me. I'm black and I'm female, so I have to work extra hard to prove myself. I just wish people would stop the hatred cause its not necessary. There is more important things like the War in Iraq to worry about than hating eachotherFor any race, we need to start teaching our kids not to hate. Not to look at a persons color but by their mind. Well, that's how things stand. Just don't be like them. Here's something you might want to try. Ever heard of the original ' Twilight Zone ' series? Okay. There's this one where they're going to hang some black guy in the south. You see hatred on both sides. Then, this thick black cloud starts to form over the town. And it isn't even midday yet. Reeeaaaally to the point. On the other side, blacks are very much users. With no moral constraint to do otherwise. But, again, you don't become a real human being by doing what others do, now do you? So don't be like them. By now, everybody is wise to this bogus skin scam bit. To the point even middle easterners are brought in affecting the same attitudes and techniques. Fine. Enough people who are white do the same thing. What you're really looking at is the final hour of evil in the world. It's worth it to have to see this to know it's about to disappear for all time to come. Something they know, and won't admit to. Which makes you right. They are their own worst enemy.

Sweetie, maybe if you came down your high horse once in awhile, you'd realize that life ain't that easy. Some blacks are living the consequences of slavery to this day! And if you think it's a conspiracy and a thing of the past, open your eyes....Prejudice is there, alive and well..Doesn't always feel nice to feel like a second class citizen, but some of us manage.
And I don't hate you.

We are an angry people. We love to complain. It's not just blacks; it's everyone. In the amazing quality of life we have achieved in North America, we forget to be grateful for what we have.
It's true - progess would not be made without discontent, but the levels of discontent are raging. We think only for ourselves and not for others. We should not use our privileged position to condemn others; rather, we should do all we can to help them, to make life better for those around the world.

I'm a woman and I don't hate my self even in the slightest. In fact I love my gender role and have no problem staying within it. My boyfriend is Black and he certainly doesn't hate himself. He can be so arrogant sometimes, actually, lol. I think you just wish this were true.

first off, i totally agree with your viewpoint on this one. At first, Black americans were eager to integrate into American culture. But rejection after insult pays it's price, and now they're determined to differentiate themselves from white people. They're bitter and dejected, and found that they need to stick together (probably why they call themselves "brother") and form their own sub-culture- which just happens to be reeking of crime and poverty.

I understand where they're coming from. That sort of past is hard to just forget. But honestly, that's the only way we're going to get out of this white/black conflict. We need to forget past infliction and move on. Being angry, violent, irresponsible, ignorant and absolutely RUDE doesn't help anything. Cooperation is key. If they want to be happy, they need to be part of the system. Like, graduate high school, maybe?

***i am NOT categorizing all black americans into one lump. I am targetting specific people. so leave your "oh no she di'in't for someone else", please.

Kami, let me reverse that on you. They see what the whites have and they want; but have not the means to obtain it. They do not realize that there are even more whites out there that go without as well. For they have tunnel vision. And if you did not have tunnel vision you would be able to see that as well. And it is so easey to blame the system for not working for you on your differentices. Dr. King, and JFK both laid that false guide line down for them to fall back on. As does the legal system from time to time, don't blame them all our leaders are to blame.

You couldn't be more right. We are all responsible for our destiny and many blacks live to whine about how they have been mistreated. Slavery ended a long time ago and no one is alive today that had any part of it, yet you would think it ended last month the way they tell it. I have black friends who feel the same way and have told me so without any urging on my part. Crime and drugs are a way of life for many of the younger group unfortunately.

I just feel that some Black people have been brought up certain ways, just like whites. Not all black people are like that. It just depends on the person and their experiences.

It's not all black people who do this. There are some black people who believe that white people owe them and hate them for what they did to their ancesters. It's like the Native traditions. Ya it was 1000 years ago, but their our ancesters and we keep doing it and some of them hate the white men for taking their land and putting them on reserves. You have to remember it's not all blacks, natives, asians, hispanics etc... who think like this.
