get in the car and drive to the airport and then fly to your destination only to see the ship leaving port again
rent a bicycle and peddle azz fast down to the bus station and catch the # 420 to the next pier just in time to catch your ship and sail away

Go hang around the docks at the port and wait for a handsome sailor to direct you to one that has already come in. It may not be your ship, but at that point, who cares???
