How does it look? How many floor includes? Are there any noticable decorative elements? etc.
I've already noticed American flag on every house)) what more?
What does the term "home" means to Americans?
(I have a course of "American culture" in the University and I should write about the differences between Russian and American houses)

Our homes vary quite a bit. I would say, across the country, the most common house is a one story ranch/bungalow since so many of them were mass-produced in the 50s and 60s. They are usually made out of brick and/or aluminum siding (although it's very different in California), and have fenced in front and back yards. However, apartments and condos are also quite common.
A home to us is somewhere we feel comfortable, miss when we're away, raise our children, and have fond memories... although Americans typically move many times in their lives.

It's a bit shocking, especially from a professor at a HBCU, you would think they would be more sensitive to such things since they are around a large number of educated, positive African Americans (and during February too when people are even more sensitive). He sounds like an educator who needs to be educated himself.

sry, no such thing...there's too many of us to be "typical"....and I can prove it to ya...I don't have an american flag on my house (I support my country, but not so much my gov't at the moment, but that's totally off topic so never mind).
