The Ukulele is still popular in Hawaii, everywhere else in the US it is treated like a novelty (not a true musical instrument).

Ukelele's are out this year. If you want to rock then get a Mandolin.

I don't think it is that populare of an instramment, but that just means you will be in higher demand
